Will a PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics card work in a PCS Express 3.0 x 16 mobo slot? I'm thinking of buying a older PNY NVIDIA Quadro K2200 Graphics Card, VCQK2200-PB, PCI Express 2.0 x16 card an putting it into a GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-X99-Gaming 5P (rev. 1.0) LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 with 3 x PCI X1 and 4 x PCI Express 3.0 x 16 slots. I trying to keep the cost of my build down by buying an older generation GPU.

Solution
Simple answer is yes it should. Albeit the other way, I run a PCI-E 3.0 card on a PCI-E 2 motherboard. There should be no issue running a PCI-E 2.x card on a PCI-E 3 motherboard.

I'm sure others will confirm.
