Hi all,

I'm currently selecting components for a new gaming rig, goal is future proofing for 4 to 6 years and 3D cad modeling (Solid Edge, Maya, ...) within a budget of 1300€ or less.
This is what I got already:

-GIGABYTE GA-B150-HD3P, socket 1151
-Cooler Master G550M
-Samsung SH-224FB
-Crucial BX200, 480 GB SSD
-LogiLink Card Reader 54 in 1
-Crucial 16 GB DDR4-2400 Kit, RAM
-Intel® Core i5-6600, 3,3 GHz (3,9 GHz Turbo Boost) socket 1151 processor
-Western Digital Blue, 3 TB HDD
-Arctic Freezer i11, CPU-koeler
-MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, Grafische kaart
-CM Storm Enforcer, Case

First off, I was wondering if this setup is ok, can any components be replaced by better alternatives?

But most importantly, can I install Windows 7 Home on this? Won't there by any problems with the drivers?

Thanks for the replies,

You could potentially have a problem installing Win 7.

Since you are looking at locked chips anyway, I still would recommend Xeon for multithreaded support, for future titles. Performance differences between skylake and Haswell are very minor.

Not a good PSU choice. Cad modeling, you want more threads, I would do something more like this.

Thanks for the reply, but no, the CAD modeling software (Solid Edge) can't use hyperthreading, so the i5 will have to do.
It's mainly a gaming rig anyway.

But as for the windows 7 compatibility, any thoughts?
