I have a M5A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard and an AMD FX 6350 - Six Core processor. All drivers are updated on my graphics card and PC in general and I have checked for firmware for the hard drive i'm using. Its been doing this a little over a year. It will normally sit idle and if i'm watching a video etc. It freezes up like a broken cd noise and the system freezes. It kind of helps whenever I move my mouse or type on the keyboard and seems to make it respond faster, although not all the time. Any ideas?

Memory issues, I've had it before. Turned out the memory sticks in my PC (branded) knocked out a little during transit, I just pushed them back in and changed them around (i think, some time ago) and then freezing stopped.

So, make sure that your memory sticks are secure.
Hi there Sheagee,

Many things could cause these freezes. It may be a good idea to observe Resource Monitor during these and see if there is high usage of RAM, HDD, etc.
Apart from that, you can do several things:
- Test your RAM with some third party tool.
- Test your HDD. If there is something wrong with it you need to back up the data stored on it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
- Measure the system's temps.
- Troubleshoot your PSU. Unfortunately, the easiest way to do so is to just borrow one from somebody and install it on your system.
