Hey im building a gaming pc and just wanted some tips on compatibility

Asus GeForce GTX970 Turbo OC 4GB Graphic Card

Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, Haswell Gen2 LGA1150, 3.6GHz 8MB - TRAY

Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Desktop Memory - KVR16N11S8/8

Western Digital Blue WD20EZRZ 2TB 3.5" Hard Drive. IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB Internal Solid State Drive(SSD) MZ-75E250

Corsair VS650 650W ATX Power Supply

.Asus A88X-Gamer FM2+ ATX Motherboard

Any tips on choosing the CPU in terms of picking up a new skylake processor and if so what motherboard would be best to go with that.

Thank you

I'm a Kiwi, I speak AUD :).

So. if I when to Oz and built a mid-range, general purpose computer with strong gaming for your budget, this is the sort of thing I'd do.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($369.00 @ Centre Com)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($109.00 @ CPL Online)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($65.00 @ IJK)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($129.00 @ PLE Computers)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.00 @ Centre Com)...
Those parts will not work The Intel CPU will not work with the FM2+ motherboard which is intended for AMD APU chips. Also, a tray processor is without a CPU cooler, so you will need to add one.

What is your budget in local currency?

I would want a higher-performance PSU than that. Not higher Wattage, 650W is plenty, not higher efficiency, Bronze is OK, but higher performance, and able to handle that variable and swiftly changing demands of your high-performance gaming system.

Ahh thank you, ATM its around 1300 USD, or 1700-1900 AUD local currency. I was unsure about the motherboards and PSU, would a Gigabyte GA-H170-HD3 ATX Motherboard be a better choice with a Cooler Master 650W 80Plus Gold Semi Modular ATX Power Supply and to a Intel Core i7-4790K CPU BX80646I74790K LGA1150

The CPU is a powerful as an i7, but a but slower and a lot cheaper than an i7 4790 (I use one on this system)
No cooler needed.
Decent budget motherboard
Good, fast enough memory
Storage. Big enough SSD.
Good video card, can be overclocked for about 10% more performance.
Decent budget case.
Good power supply, and powerful enough.
OOD and OS.

The H170 motherboard will not run the 4790K either, the first is LGA1151 socket, the second is LGA1150 chip. Overclocking is not really necessary for gaming because most games are GPU limited.

If you really want overclocking, then this
