Possible PSU failure?

Hey guys.

My PC has been restarting randomly. It started a few weeks ago and would follow this abnormal routine of shutting off roughly every 24 hours. But today it's been getting more frequent, would shut off and restart, three times consecutively within 10 seconds, then run for about an hour or two before repeating the same process again.

I would assume this problem might be my PSU, but I also did an overclock on my CPU about a month ago, wondering if that might be a possibility as well. However, I did undo the overclock, and the restart issue still occurs. I also checked my temps to see if it was an overheat issue, but it definitely is not that. I have yet to breadboard, nor do I have a PSU tester.

Specs:
i5 3570k (@ 4.4ghz)
Asrock z77 Extreme4 Motherboard
Avexir Core Venom Series 16GB (4GBx4) DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTX 780 GPU
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
WD Black 3TB HD
Corsair HX Series 850w PSU

What do you guys think the problem is? I've had the PSU for about two years now, but I did get it off eBay...

I'd start heading down the process of elimination list of troubleshooting each part individually.

I've had excellent experiences with warranties via Corsair in the past. As long as you're still covered, and meet their parameters, it should be a snap for replacement. Assuming it is the power supply.

Ah, forgot the motherboard. It's the Asrock z77 Extreme4. PSU is might be the CMPSU-850HX, as I got it roughly 2 years ago.

Hey, so I ended up attempting to replace the PSU, and it was fine for two days... then the shutdowns came back. Event viewer still says Kernel-power. It got real bad, and now it won't even boot up, it just turns on and shuts down after a second, and repeats.

I even removed everything else but the processor. So at this point, I suppose it's the motherboard or processor...?

ASRock has a 3-year warranty, so if you're still within those 3 years, I'd recommend contacting them next.

I assume you've tried it with just one RAM stick and different RAM sticks? If not, I'd check that first. BSoDs are more common with RAM, but a stick gone bad can cause all sorts of wacky behavior. While I'm more inclined to blame the motherboard at this point, trying it with different RAM sticks is quick (and free!).

So I went ahead and bought a new processor and motherboard... Problem still persists. Is worse when I have the GPU connected. Stays on longer without GPU, but eventually reboots. Tried all possible ram switching, removed each piece of hardware... All I can think of is that it's my original problem of a PSU failure, so I guess I bought another defected PSU?

I'm stumped guys. I bought a PSU tester, so Im waiting on that now.
