Hi,
Having to replace the hard drive on my Grandaughters HP Pavilion g6 1371 ea and re-install Win7 64bit. There is no wireless adaptor shown. Also drivers are missing for Ethernet and Network controller.PCI device,PCI simple Communications controller. and SM bus controllers.
Looking on the HP website for drivers to download onto a flashdrive on my desktop I can not find away to do so as HP want to inspect my Laptop.
Any ideas how I can so please.
Many thanks ,
Sid.

Follow these steps to find what network card you have:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.

2. In the Run window, type msinfo32.exe in the Open: box, and then click OK.

3. Under the System Summary menu on the left of the System Information window, click the plus sign (+) next to Components.

4. In the list of installed components, click to select Network.

5. In the message Select a Subcategory, double-click to select Adapter.

The details of the network card appear on the right. Once you have determined what network card you have just google the model and drivers and download them. [assuming you have another PC with internet connection]

Hi,
Many thanks for your replies. Sorry for the delay in answering getting more and more confused. I have downloaded the WAN Miniport (SSTP) and installed with no success. I am afraid I clicked on the solution button by mistake. Which leaves me with two other questions.
The laptop is telling me that Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter.
On a laptop is the wireless adapter a separate card?
Should the required drivers have been on the original installation disc?
Many thanks for your help it is appreciated.
Sid.

On any modern laptop the wireless isn't really a separate card, it's all soldered onto the main board, but it does require separate drivers than the LAN driver. If you have the manufacturer driver disk that came with the laptop it should have the appropriate LAN and wireless drivers on it. Sometimes manufacturers have multiple sources or their components which is why they may have more than one wireless driver on their website, sometimes you just have to try every one until you get the correct driver.

EDIT -- I unchecked the best selected answer until you get the correct solution.
