So I recently bought a new GPU after installing it my computer was rebooting with an error message due to the CPU temp getting too high so I bought a new cooler after installing that the temp stays at a good level. Now it just reboots with no error message or to bios just to windows like I have manually pressed the restart button, this only seems to happen when I start playing a game on the system. I tried lowering the llc on the bios but still no luck. Any ideas?

My rig:
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz
GPU: gtx 970 4gb
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8P67
Ram: did have 2 8bg corsair vengeance but currently only on 1 after probelm with that but restarts were still happening with both sticks
psu: unsure of make all I know is it's 750w

well it didn't start restarting until I out my new gpu in and its not the stock factory one its the MSI twin frozor V and that alone needs 450w so if what you say about my PSU being a fake 750w then I need a new PSU

I'm only theorizing from afar. I'm not there to examine the situation. It could also be a defective new card. It happens. Yes, a 450W would be enough if it were a high end unit. That's why I suggested trying the old card for awhile. If the problem goes away, it is at least narrowed down to the new card or the PSU. Can you test the new card on someone else's machine for awhile? If it causes problems for them, you'd know it was the card.

In any event get that power supply out if you value your system. I've never even heard of that brand of power supply. One from evga or corsair would be a better choice if on a budget. To give you an idea, that power supply is rated for 38 amps on the 12v rail someone said.

My evga 600b is rated at 49 amps on the 12v rail. So even though my power supply is less wattage, it theoretically pushes pushes more power than that 750 watt. I would be hesitant to trust my computer to the power supply you have.

Plus I've seen cpus go out due to the power supply not giving clean power. I once fried a motherboard because of using to cheap of a power supply.

Never had a problem with it, had it for 3 years only now after getting a new gpu is it restarting, I bought a new psu anyway so see what happens when it arrives

Right, but the problem with power supplies is they do age and get weaker over time, so even if it could have handled the card when it was new, it may not at it's current state. But from experience don't skimp to much on the power supply, I've fried boards and seen fried cpus because of cheap power supplies, so kind of an expensive lesson to have to learn.
