I plan on isntalling windows on my new SSD, and I want to keep my old HDD as storage. I wanted to keep all the files on my HDD and all the softwares and programs, so I was wondering is it possible just to set the SSD as the boot hard drive without formatting the old HDD or changing anything on it.

Is the SSD at least as big as the HDD?
Is so just clone the HDD to the SSD, then extend the partition on the SSD as required from disk manager. I've done this on about 10 different systems now and it is quick and easy.

Then once working you can reformat the HDD and use it as a data drive.
