So I have installed windows 7 on my ssd as well as LinuxMint on the same drive, however, on a different partition. When I finished the installation I restarted and it booted straight into windows.

I've reinstalled 3 times now creating and deleting partitions and volumes for the past 4 hours.

This is my first time doing anything with linux anything so I honestly have no idea what i'm doing.

I have decided on one last try, so before then i'd like someone to tell me what i'm doing wrong.

Solution
If you havent solved your problem with a fresh install yet you can try repairing your Linux install with rescatux or for now boot into your Linux install with supergrub which you can find on the same site
Make a bootable install on a usb stick with your favourite tool (universal usb installer , rufus, yumi ..)
For supergrub it should be enough to boot it from a usb stick choose the first option to find bootable Linux installs and boot into your Linux.

If you have a live disc with the same Linux distro you installed , you can also reconfigure your grub from there

take a drive, creat 2 partions 1 for win 2 for linux
-install windows let it do it thing( you can creat the partions there.
-install linux 2nd part let it do its thing. (if it dosent ask you from the get go to duel boot..
-then linux has a program that will replace your MRB and it will creat a dual boot for you ;)

So would I have to reinstall linux again in order for me to not restart right after and set up the efibootmgr?

So i've gone through the guide and finished the re-install but the boot options don't give me anything recognizable.
At this point i'm better off sticking to windows to be honest. Installing an OS shouldn't be this complicated.

No, go for it.

Install Windows first.
As you do, partition the drive in half.
After Windows works just fine....
Install Linux on the other partition
The Linux boot manager GRUB, should take over

On boot up, you should be presented with a menu of what to boot from
At least that the way it works when I do a dualboot like that

Try it again.
