Hi guys! I just received my new internal 3tb hard drive. I connected it to my desktop. Booted fine. Went to disk management...selected simple partition and then format. It took 10 min and disk management frozed. Left me with no choice but to force close it. I decided to reboot my computer just to make sure. Now the computer wont boot pass the window 10 spinning part. The bios see the two hard drive. The new one is marked as not in the booting process. If i unplug the sata connector of the new hard drive...the computer is able to boot normaly. How the hell can i fix the new drive?

Yes, you could try formatting it using a USB enclosure (just make sure the enclosure supports 3TB drives). If the drive is properly recognized, having in mind it has already been initialized, I'd recommend that you download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool and run some tests on the drive, to see if there's anything alarming.

Please keep me posted.
Hey there, Mthieu.

I'd suggest that you try your new HDD with a different SATA port and cables than the one you've tried it with the last time, to see if the same thing happens. Make sure that the cables are properly connected to the drive, motherboard and PSU. It would be even better if you could try the drive with a different computer.
If you keep experiencing the same problem every time, I'd recommend that you get in touch with the reseller or the manufacturer you got the drive from and ask for a replacement.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Hi Boogieman, thanks for helping. I did try to connect it to another sata port on my mobo. A strange thing is happening when i boot. It seems like it boot ok but when it arrive to the desktop...the screen is just totaly black...i can see only my cursor. Do you think i could format the drive using a usb enclosure??

I bought a usb enclosure and everything is fine now. I think the problem was from my old mother board. I think i will need to upgrade soon. It seems like my model doesn't really handle internal hard drive over 2tb. Anyway, thanks Boogieman!
