I just got a 250gb samsung evo ssd and i wanna put BF4, cs:go maybe, fallout 4 maybe, dirty bomb and maybe my operating system on it but how long does it take to move such large files such as gta V or bf4 to it? keep in mind im not talking about just redownloading it

Solution

yea. 150 mb is pretty quick. just for comparison i was copying data from my 150mb drive to a ssd/ramdisk raid and it was getting around 20 gigs every 5-10 min the time it takes will vary depending on if it has to copy a bunch of small files or one large one.

if your original hdd is smaller than 240GB (or, isn't full and you can shrink your partition down using gparted or something), you can use macrium reflect to copy the image from one drive to another...i agree with cdabc123 -- 2 hours is probably reasonable, assuming your essential files are backed up in case something goes wrong.

i went from a 64GB SSD to a 128GB one using this guide:
http://www.howtogeek.com/199068/how-to-upgrade-your-existing-hard-drive-in-under-an-hour/

shrinking your partition down first, if necessary, may take a while.

yeah its just a normal Western Digital 1tb hdd. i think that drive has about a 150mb/s read/write speed. 2 hours is a lot shorter than i expected it to be, im glad to hear that though.
