Hi
I want to build this PC

PSU: Antec VP550p V2 (550watt)
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor
MotherBoard: GIGABYTE H97M-D3H
Ram:Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600
Case: Corsair SPEC-03

and i want to know if the PSU is good enough,if not what would you recommend
and what could happen if i use this PSU
actually the PSU is from my old pc

Solution
The Antec Earthwatts EA-750 is the best quality on your list, but not because it's platinum rated. It happens to use higher quality parts inside. The rest are all budget units. the Corsair VS series are terrible quality.

Meh, better buy another, no headroom for OC and future upgrades.

I always look for EVGA PSU made by Superflower with 80PLUS Gold, seems out of ur budget, even if with such build (very cool btw), I wouldn't save money in a good PSU...

EVGA and Corsair made by Seasonic also are good, XFX Core Edition.
Rosewill/Cougar: Seems good, but no personal experience with these ones.

Also, K series processors only oc in Z97 mobos, (unless u will upgrade it); Better a i7-4770 or even a 4790 not "K" edition.

Also, why Ballistix? I know it's good, very good, but I would take a G.Skill or Corsair one...
16GB? Are u doing 3D rendering or video editing?
What CAS, what speed?

G1 Gaming is personal preference? I would go if MSI for 970s, (but the PC is yours, btw).

Enough case, but this mobo... Look for Z97-A, Z97 Pro Gaming, or ROG Hero (if it's in ur budget).

Good luck!

Antec VP500P is a good quality, low budget power supply. If you want to build a high end system with 4790K and GTX 970 you should buy a better power supply. Also, 4790K is better when paired with a Z97 board, not H97. You can use an H97 board but you'll lose overclocking ability of 4790K.

thanks for the reply
well, the parts are on the way and i don't want to OC anything rightnow, maybe in the future and then i will buy a new motherboard
and i got these parts because i got this whole build without the case and psu for 790$, which is a good price.
and the i7-4790k will reach 4.4GHz even on h97 chipset

by the way you did not answer my question

i know that the PSU is not the best for this build but will it do fine i don't overclock anything, and what will happen if i use it
and if not, what PSU do you recommend 650watt or 700watt (good brand of course)

Oh sorry, for some reason I saw i5-4690K and not i7-4790-K. =P

Well, see if it will works in light os using and heavy gaming/editing, if yes, perfect, stay with it.
If no, 650W is enough, buy the one u want.

Good luck!

Using an entry level, low budget, used power supply with expensive parts is not a very good idea. Maybe nothing will go wrong. Maybe it will work fine. Most people don't realize the psu is the most important component in a pc and they tend to buy cheap ones which usually lead to failure or disaster. We see it here every day. A few extra bucks invested in a good psu can protect your expensive parts and provide clean, ripple free power for a stable running system.

Platinum is only an efficiency rating of how much power the PSU draws from the outlet to convert to 12 volt dc. It has nothing to do with the quality of the power supply. Gold rating is more than enough. There are many bronze power supplies that are much better quality then gold and platinum models. If you want a 750 watt unit, the EVGA 750 B2 is best value with high quality bronze semi-modular unit. If you want gold, the EVGA 750 G2 is about the best there is.
