Thanks in advance for any help here.

I have a Gateway dx4840 with an H57h-AM2 motherboard that had 6GB of DDR3 RAM that I attempted to upgrade to 16GB. I confirmed with the manual that the motherboard was able to take 16GB in 4x4GB configuration (Manual was found online, so can't be 100% sure it is correct). I swapped the RAM out to the new RAM and tried to boot with no success, I would get the gateway screen and nothing further. Would not go into setup/bios with F12. Swapped old RAM back in and worked fine.

I then tried removing old RAM, resetting CMOS and then installed new RAM and got the same results, gateway screen and nothing further. I swapped the old RAM back in and now I get a black screen, one beep from the computer, everything powers up, then two beeps and everything goes idle. Put new RAM back in and I get the Gateway screen again, but no setup/BIOS when pressing F12.

Im at a loss for what to try next.

Solution
The motherboard supports up to 16 GB of system memory with dual channel DDR3 1333/1066 MHz. DDR3 1600MHz is not a supported speed.

HX316C10FBK2/8 is (2 x 4GB) kit. Combining multiple kits can cause compatibility problems such as being unable to boot and unable to operate at rated specifications.

I purchased new ram at the required speed 1333mhz and matched it to the current ram in the pc. Still won't boot up past Gateway screen. Any input would be great here. I've got enough invested in ram at this point I'm halfway to a new computer.

Ram purchased was Fury HyperX p/n HX313C9FBK2/8 2x4gb kits.
