Hi! So I did the reset on windows 8 that deletes everything and reinstalls windows. Took hours and I shut the computer off before doing anything extra.
I want to sell and heard many people say that data can still be recovered, did this process I did make that extremely unlikely? Did I do the most I could of done without spending a lot of money? It seemed too easy...

Last question: do I keep this computer shut off until I sell it? It wants me to input name and pick settings. I didn't do that but wanted to make sure everything worked properly?

Thank you

You can use the media creation tool from microsoft to burn a new install disk, and go to the manufacturer's website to download drivers. Make sure you have another computer with internet access so you can download the drivers.

I would personally run DBAN to completely wipe your machine, provided you know what you're doing, then reinstall windows 8 from a CD. Install all the drivers and package it up
http://www.dban.org/

Formatting a drive only says the data can be overwritten, it's still there. DBAN overwrites all the data with junk so that it is extremely nlikely to delete it. you will need to reinstall windows from a disk though

Thank you for replying. I never did this before but I'll look up some guides on DBAN. A disk never came with my computer but I'll get one? Unless I can do it on my computer now with a blank one.
