Okay, so this problem has been afflicting me for a while now, but due to lack of ability to pinpoint the problem component exactly, and the lack of a return policy at my nearby computer stores, it's largely gone unaddressed, despite how much it handicaps my system.
Essentially, sometime near the end of last month, I had to perform a hard reset. After doing so, my PC began to shut off completely whenever something bogs down the GPU. Now we're not talking just a proper shut down. We're talking power instantly cut, and I can't turn it back ON until I flip off the power supply or unplug it from the wall for about ten seconds for the remaining power to discharge from the system. Nothing is overheating in the system when it happens. I've confirmed that nothing ever goes above 60c. Neither is it a ram or HDD issue, as I've tested both of those. The trigger varies, but it's most easily replicatable if I open up Sony Vegas with GPU Acceleration turned on. If it's turned off, the program runs slow as molasses, (as one might expect) but no crash, ruling out the CPU. It's also not a random issue. It ONLY happens when the GPU is under load. Otherwise the system runs as normal, and has done so ever since this began.
Now up until last night, I had assumed that it was either the GPU dying, or the PSU weakening, and no longer being able to supply enough power TO the GPU when running at maximum capacity. However, now I've began to hear an electrical hissing type sound coming from somewhere near the middle to back of the case, which I've actually recorded for you guys here. The curious thing about this, is that it doesn't happen at all in the BIOS. It starts only at the second boot phase of Windows (10), and STOPS if I put the CPU under full load. (Eg: running Sony Vegas with GPU Acceleration turned off) For what it's worth, I've tested the PSU, GPU, and case fans without actually turning the system on, but since it doesn't start until the system is somewhere between no load and FULL load, all I could determine was that it isn't the fans themselves.
So to briefly recap: System shuts off instantly when GPU is in use, not CPU, RAM, or HDD, and either the PSU, CPU, or Mobo has begun to "hiss" ONLY when running at moderate CPU load. Any ideas of what could possibly be going on with this? I'm at a loss, and would rather not waste money on parts that may not be the issue. Right now, my money is on the PSU, but I have no psare parts to test with, so I need to be certain.
