I have recently bought all my parts to a computer and once I finally built it, it was time to play. (I believe) I downloaded everything correct with the disks but still getting major lag in games like COD WAW and Minecraft. I am also lagging in the browser sometimes too (which is google chrome) I Dont get why this is happening and would like some help. Thank you so much for your time.

SPECS:
My whole system build is this:
- AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core
- ASRock FM2A78M Pro+
- 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM
- EVGA GeForce GT 740 (4GB memory size) GDDR5 1.08Ghz
- Corsair CX 600W Semi Modular ATX Power Supply
- Samsung 850 EVO (250 GB)
- Windows 8

**Another situation, which is the main, is that my mouse keeps freezing and jumping all over the place but once I leave a game and X out of it, my mouse is perfectly fine.

CPU is OK for medium to high in most games. But GPU is a little weak and will hold you back. Since the 'LAG' is in on-line games and also when just browsing the internet my guess is your internet connection is a little flakey. Do a speed test and see if it's running as fast as it should be.

1. Please don't come here saying that my computer isnt good.
2. In the most case it could be based on the ISP so I will check that once I get the chance.
3. How specific do you want me to be? It lags when I play games. It lags sometimes in the browser. Plus I stated everything on my PC build lol

yes, I was going kinda cheap for my first build so i got kinda mid to high range stuff but was trying to avoid the bad parts. People have said that the GPU isn't really for gaming but I wanted to make sure with you guys about that. The internet, I will be checking that soon.

*update: my internet speed is as shown......http://results.speedtest.comcast.net/result/1143321844.png

What do you mean "it" lags? The internet connection is laggy? The screen is laggy? Also, I have heard many bad things about those "CX" power supplies. Consider getting a new one when going forward.

Can you do a speedtest on www.speedtest.net instead? Or better yet, use ping in command prompt and ping a server that is decently far away. Using those speedtests will usually just go off the closest server available.

I thought corsair makes some good power supplies......guess they were wrong lol. but anyways, when i say "it" im referring to the game itself. like i said, sometimes my computer itself is laggy (stoping and going) when im in a browser of some sort too (say im looking up a question or even talking to you guys).

Well, what do you mean by stopping? do you mean everything on the computer freezes and moving your mouse does nothing? or do you mean it just takes time to load webpages?

It could be a virus?

You're still bad at describing the problem, because you're using words wrong.

Your internet service seems above adequate so I think we can rule that out.

I can't be too sure because I know you're having a problem articulating what you're seeing but this is seeming a little like a bottleneck issue. If things are choppy or hanging during the game that could be the case but running a web browser shouldn't be causing any issues.

Try powering down and making sure all your RAM cards are seated correctly.

Alright, first thing will be gaming. When i'm playing Call Of Duty World at War, it goes great for about 15 minutes and then all of a sudden when I move my mouse (left, right,up,down, every angle) my person doesn't move there gun yet I believe I can still move my character. It freezes during game play for a quick 2 seconds and than goes back to being fine for about a minute and starts back up. It is not my mouse because I swapped out the mouse that I was currently using to another and it still has the problem. It's almost like my mouse IS dying (I have a wired mouse and wireless but I play games mostly on wireless but tested with wired and still the same thing). Now when I play Minecraft, if you know anything about it, I play on a very low render distance or else it'll keep freezing and going until i get frustrated and close out. My laptop, which has lower specs than my computer, can run it with the highest rendering distance AND can run with 50 mods attached to it. Another thing I will like to point out is that during when I'm playing my game (for about a half hour), I can hear my fans run at high speeds (just thought you should know that). Now I will talk about searching with the browser. When I go ahead and search something, the speed is awesome. Sometimes when I am going to do something, it does freeze for a moment but will work perfectly fine after. It is only when I am playing games that It starts to act a bit funny and ALL I wanted to know is what was wrong with it. I know I have terrible parts because I was sorta building on a budget but thought the parts were good enough to at least run 2 games but I was wrong.

Like I told the other guy, the browser really doesn't have a problem except for a few freezes here and there (which is once in a blue moon). I will go ahead and try removing the 2 Rams and see from there what i should do. I know my computer says that I have 8 GB RAM but maybe if i go ahead and switch them to the front, maybe they'll work better.....who knows lol.

Your motherboard manual will give you the recommended slots for a 2-card config. For mine its slots 2 & 4, Other mobos do 1 & 3.
From what you're saying about the 1-2 second freeze in-games sounds exactly like a CPU bottleneck. Your CPU can't process information as fast as your GPU wants it, so you get a second or two where it has to catch up.

is there a way that the CPU can process as fast as the GPU, or do i have to buy a whole other part?

actually, doing that with the RAM did help with the lag but there are still moments in my game to where it still freezes for like a second and then gets back to the game. I feel like it is the CPU and GPU not working out together.

Yes I did check for viruses and no I dont have any. what do you mean about "running in the background"?

when sitting idle at desktop what is your constant memory usage?
