Hi I want to upgrade the graphics card in my sons pc (model above) to a NVIDA Geforce GTX 750ti. In order to do that I also need to upgrade the PSU. Can anyone help with what power PSU is needed? I am looking at the Corsair CXM500, would this fit and would it give enough power? Any other graphics card/PSU combination that anyone would recommend? I am buying them for Christmas so will probably be installing Christmas morning so need to get it right before hand

That's a system with an external power brick isn't it. I think its good for 180W. The system has a 30W GPU in it and you could probably run one of the lower GTX750ti's, like the EVGA Superclocked 3753 I use here, on your system with the existing PSU. The card only draws 65W from the PCI-e slot so needs no extra power feeds.

If you do have a power-brick external, it will be a considerable challenge to upgrade the PSU inside the system.

Thanks for your speedy response, just checked the machine and no external power brick so looks like the power supply is internal.

Found the instructions to upgrade the PSU on hp site : http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04100691

Obviously would rather not have to mess around with changing the PSU, probably at my limit of capability, happy to change the graphics card though. Do the GTX 750ti's have different power requirements?

Yes thats the one but it definitely has an internal PSU. Just has a kettle lead to plug into the mains. I think I am going to take your advice and get the card you recommended and see if it works with the current power supply.
