Can i run 1600MHz RAM on this board

Im planning on buying 8GB HyperX ram 1600MHz 2x4GB but can i run it on the board Asus M4A78LT-M it says it supports 1600Mhz but next to it says O.C is thia only if its overclocked from 1333 to 1600?

Yes the RAM will need to be overclocked and you may need a slight overclock on the memory controller.

What CPU? That will be the determining factor. The DRAM is rated to 1600 so it 's not being OCed....the (OC) indicates it may take an OC of the CPU (more specifically - the CPUs MC (memory controller)) to run at full 1600. i.e. the AMD 965 was the first of their CPUs to reliably run 1600 DRAM, if a 955 or lower may have to drop to 1333 or lower

Ok its a Phenom 955 so is it gonna clock itself to 1333

More than likely, yes, might be able to hit 1600 with an OC on the CPU
