Right, i'm interested in buying an 8tb external hard drive ( Seagate 8tb backup plus ) many months along the line or years, i might buy another one or another 2 etc. And i want to eventually get an enclosed like the Drobo or synology etc, nas or none-nas, basically one that i can put the drives into. Now when i look for multidrive enclosures, i always see a " max capacity " and also some say that a max 2tb per slot Etc, how do i know that the enclosure that i'm going to want to get will be able to house the drives i want to install of different sizes? so for example 8tb/4tb/2tb/2tb ?

Should i look for specific external hard drives from now? Should i look for ones that don't exceed X Capacity?

Should i just get multibay drive now and add to it as time goes on?
http://www.drobo.com/storage-products/capacity-calculator/ , looking into 5d/5n, in the capacity calculator they allow you to drag 6tb drives, does it mean that 8tb won't work?
