I changed my case to a define r5 a few months ago. I connected the front USB 3.0 header to my motherboard which is an Asus p8z77v-lx.

A few times since I've tried to unplug the header for cable routing etc but it seems stuck I've wiggled it and tried pulling with some force tho no avail.
There seems to be plastic clips on the male end of the connection and it just won't release. I don't want to force it and break something. I'm hoping to upgrade my motherboard and CPU at some stage and I know this is going to make that an issue.

Has anyone else has this sort of problem and how were you able to solve it?

I've been thinking about this a little more. USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard looks like a little "box" with a cutout on one side to ensure the connector is inserted the right way. Looking at images of your motherboard, I don't see any clips. It may be that in poor light and in the cramped conditions inside the case, you are mistaking the notch for a clip.

I suspect you used one ounce of force too little to pull it out. :)

I have a similar problem with the 24-pin power connector (that does have a clip). In many cases I don't have the finger strength to push the clip down and cleanly pull the cable out. I now have a little pair of pliers with a bent nose and blades wrapped with tape to prevent it from leaving scratches on the clips. :)

I should have made this a discussion instead of a question tbh. Anyone know if it can be changed? Anyway, I don't have any pictures right now but there isn't really anything to see its just in the port. When I said the male end I meant the connector itself( not the motherboard end)

I don't think force is the issue it's at the stage where the motherboard will give way before the connector detaches. I might try using a screw driver to pry the clips but that could cause more problems
