New PC crashes during games

So i just built a new pc.

i5 6600k with hyper 212
asus z170k
corsair vengeance lpx 16gb
evga 970
evga 750w psu (brought over from last pc, about 1 year old)
seagate 2tb hard drive

So my PC likes to freeze completely during games. I have to hold the power button down to restart it because no other buttons work. I checked everything and it's all plug in correctly and tightly. I checked my temps and they are fine. It would crash constantly then i reinstalled windows and that didn't fix it but it did lessen the frequency. I updated my bios and that didn't work. I lurked around here looking for answers and most say it is temperatures or psu is failing. Some say it's the ram timings that are off. It only happens during games (i use hwmonitor to check temps).

Any help will be appreciated.

P.S both cpu and gpu aren't overclocked because at first i thought that was the problem so i reverted it to stock
