DDR2 does not work

I just bought 2 4 gb memroy sticks and my computer will not boot up with them installed why is this i had a 2 gb ddr2 and i wanted to upgrade it to a a 8 gb .Please help .

What make/model is your motherboard and the memory you are trying to install? That will help determine if they are compatible.

As i stated i have 2gb ddr2 in my coumpter now i just bought {2x4 gb} and my computer will not load with them installed why would it not my computer load.

He did ask me what i was using as my memory and i said the computer i have has 2gb of ddr2 and i stated that i was trying to install {2x4 gb of ddr2} I do not know what the mother board is as i bought the computer used

What brand and model of both your motherboard and the memory you are trying to use is needed. Pretty straight forward. Without the info, we can't determine if the 2 are compatible with each other.

Look on the motherboard, there should be some info written on it that can help. Or, load CPU-Z and use it to identify the motherboard.

Okay, now we know the motherboard info. What about the model number from the memory modules you are trying to install?

ECC Registered memory will not work with that motherboard. That is the problem. They are not compatible, nor can they be made compatible.

That type of memory is used with servers and workstations, not typical desktop PCs. Sorry.

Online thur walmart ,they back up what is sold on the site so i guess i can return it there don't know in till i ask them.

DDR2 (the type you need) memory is more expensive than newer memory standards (DDR3 and DDR4).

Honestly, I would stick with the 4GB of working memory you have a save to build a new system altogether.

You need non-ECC unbuffered memory. The one's you bought from Newegg are basically the same thing you purchased via Walmart.
