Hello everyone. I am planning to build my first ever gaming PC. I have a few questions but first, i'll provide you with the specs:
Motherboard - ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

CPU Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Memory - Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage - OCZ ARC 100 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card

Case - NZXT S340 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply - EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Questions

1)Are these parts compatible?
2) Would I need a CPU cooler, or would it be fine without one. I'll probably spend 2-3 hours on it daily.

Feel free to suggest any changes. I'm new to computers(so please explain in a way I can understand) Thank you!

Solution
Great build! To answer your question, no you really don't need an aftermarket cooler with a locked i5 as long as you have adequate cooling which the NZXT S340 already has.

Thanks for the answer! :) So all the parts are compatible then - and having no cooler would sustain 1-2 hours of gaming a day? Thanks.

Yes, all your parts seem to be compatible. The stock cooler should be fine for a couple hours of gaming use. I have numerous friends with the same cpu and they run it on the stock cooler fine.
