BSOD potentially caused by memory incompatibility?

I have G.SKILL TridentX F3-2400C10D memory (2x8GB) and a Intel Core i7 4770K CPU.

The problem is I'm having random BSOD whilst gaming. And when I say random - I mean random.

As in, around 10 months ago I got two BSOD while playing two different games (Smite, GW2) and just this week I got 3 playing two different games (Fallout 4x2, GW2).

In-between this time-period, where I changed nothing, I played Witcher 3 for around 140 hours (no crashes), played GW2 extensively (No issues), played Smite extensively (No issues).

So when I say 'Random', I mean just that - random.

The BSOD is the same error code x0124 whea_uncorrectable_error. If I recall correctly, WhoCrashed pointed to a CPU Cache error (L1 I think) from one of the BSODs earlier.

I am not overclocking outside what the build is doing on it's own IE: Memory is running the XMP profile, and and only overclock being applied to CPU is what is turned on automatically (TurboBoost). I haven't changed a single thing.

Temperatures are great - never seen the CPU go higher than 45c ever.

Unfortunately, I can't post the dump files right now as the computer is running MemTest (4 hours in, no errors). But will update with later. Posting now because my mind is stuck on this.

I've read that the memory I'm using has a higher voltage rating (1.65) than Intel is conformtable with (1.5) and this can cause issues. The Voltage reading in BIOS and Asus Suite both indicate 1.68 DRAM Voltage, so even higher than 1.65.

I know there isn't much anyone can do to help without the dump files and more information, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right track.

Right now I'm focusing in on the Memory - either bad stick, or just incompatibility with my CPU without changing something (small OC on CPU, or downclocking the Memory)

What mobo? Sounds like the MC is straining under load at 2400, can try a slight increase to the MC voltage which is prob listed as CPUVTT or DDRVTT - take it up about + 0.05. A minor OC of the CPU can also generally fix this or downclock the DRAM to 2133 at 9-10-10-28 with same 1.65 voltage. Many 4770Ks need at least one of the above to run 2400 sticks

Asus Maximus Hero VI is the motherboard.

Would 1.5v memory fix the issue do you think? I mean, I'd hate to toss the memory (seems good) but this seems like it'd be a nightmare to troubleshoot. Not to mention I'm over my head on overclocking.

I mean, 9months+ in-between BSOD.. Witcher 3 tax'd my computer hard than any game I played, and it worked flawless. Smite doesn't tax it at all and it BSOD.

I'll try some of those suggestions though, thanks.

I also know I need to update the BIOs - was going to be my first step, but after doing some research, there's a chance this issue could get worse via BIOs update (Higher frequency of BSODs).
