"The Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum."

This is the note I get in PCPartPicker, I have already ordered my parts (2x8gb sticks) along with a msi gaming 5 atx motherboard.

I just want to know if this is safe and if it will underclock down automatically when I build my PC or some places where I have read is to activate 'XMP' then i'll be TOTALLY fine? I'm not sure about all this and i am looking for someone to clear this up for me.

Thanks :)

Solution
My bad, sorry, with your combo it may take a bit of a CPU OC to run 2400, but give them atry at stock with simply enabling XMP, and select profile 1. If no joy then a small CPU and XMP again

Would be nice to know the mobo and CPU, on an Intel rig when first installed it will go to the mobos default - most often 1333 or 1600, from there it's not really complicated but with no info to work with will throw it out best I can

If the mobo supports 2400

More importantly if the MC (memory controller) of the CPU can support 2400, i.e. generally a K model CPU as it may take a slight CPU OC to run full 2400

Then you can prob run the DRAM with nothing more than enabling XMP and selecting Profile 1 (keeping in mind the slight CPU OC may be needed ;) )

Let me know CPU and mobo and can give a more definitive answer - as to the 1.65 - Yes it's perfectly safe, Intel even maintains a list of certified high end DRAM ( the majority of which runs at 1.65)

In my post i said I had a msi gaming 5 atx mobo, and in the title it says my cpu: i5 4690k, so you already had that information :pt1cable: i will be using a stock cooler for now on the cpu, no intention on overclock just yet.
