Hi guys. I have an ASUS N76V, which comes with 2 1TB HDD and they are terribly slow and really make the i7 and 8gb of ram feel like they aren't really working at their full potential. Today, I replaced my desktop SSD with a Samsung Evo 850 250GB and I have this extra 120gb Kingston SSD I figured I'd throw in my Laptop. The 1tb is partitioned as my C and D with around 500gb each. I made sure to delete everything on the D drive and the C drive only shows 71gb taken. I made sure to remove the D partition in the clone settings. GREAT! Time to clone? I gave it a shot with Macrium Reflect, but it's saying that there isn't enough space: See below

Any advice, maybe better software? Maybe I'm missing something?

Sorry, I have follow up questions. So am I shrinking the D drive that I don't even want moved over or am I shrinking the C drive that I do want to move?

Also, note that I said shrinking. When I open Disk Managment the only option I really have that sounds like re-sizing is "Shrink Volume" is that what I'm trying to do?

Assuming that I should be shrinking the C drive partition, am I good to just not select the D drive when cloning as I attempted originally?

Sorry again for the extra questions, I don't want to screw this up.

Yes, you can delete the D partition after you transfer any data off of it. The space will show as unallocated. Then shrink your C drive/partition so that it is smaller than the available space on the SSD. You should be able to clone the C partition and the system partitions to your SSD.

You state that the C: partition on your source drive - the 1 TB HDD contains 71 GB of data. At least I think that's what you're stating when you write "the C drive only shows 71gb taken.".

You also indicate you've already deleted all the data on the second partition - the D: drive - of that 1 TB HDD.

Do I have all that right? So the amount of data contents to be cloned over to the 250 GB Samsung SSD is well below the disk-space of that latter drive, right? So you should have no trouble using the Samsung Data Migration program to clone the existing data contents currently residing on your source disk.

It's unnecessary to delete the D: partition on your source HDD just for the sake of the disk-cloning operation. Obviously there's no harm in doing so if that's what you want since you've indicated that partition is now empty of data, right?

Okay, so I've deleted the D partition because it was empty and I didn't want it anymore. I shrank the C down to as small as it could go, which for some reason shows as 190GB even though there's only 70-71gb taken out of the drive. I attempted to clone and it gave me the exact same error as originally, that there isn't enough space. Here are couple screenshots of what I have to work with. Disk manager then the Reflect Cloning screen error:
