If i swap my motherboard out will i have all of my data such as games, etc. I currently have a MSI A78M-E35 so should i swap it to another MSI with LGA1150, which is what motherboard slot i need or can i swap to any motherboard with LGA1150? How can i upgrade to a new motherboard and new processor without any of my data being lost?

You dont have to upgrade to an msi board, any 1150 socket will work. The data will stay on your hard drive. You should be able to just swap it over to the new motherboard. There will probably be some conflicting drivers though, so just be sure to re-install the drivers for your new motherboard.

You shouldnt lose any of your data going by it should all be stored in your hard drive. But if you are nervous you can backup your important stuff to a cloud like Microsoft OneDrive and I think even Norton offers a backup service too.

And you should be able to swap your motherboard out with any other board that is LGA1150, but I would make sure your processor and the motherboard you are thinking about getting are for sure compatible. But like I said it's likely there will be no issues.
