Hi there I am looking for a good IPS 1080p monitor for around 100 gbp. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or brands to recommend? Or do I just go to Amazon and find the cheapest IPS with good specs and pick it. How is this one LG 22MP57VQ

A 22" IPS monitor for less than £100...put it this way, I bought a Dell 24" U2412m IPS monitor for £231 when they first came out, so for only a few inches less screen real estate, I think you've found a bargain. Plus LG aren't exactly an unknown brand so you'll be assured of a level of quality at least.

Thank you I may also be able to get an extra 10% off on Amazon so do you think its good enough or would there be much difference in getting an Asus or Acer for instance for an extra 15. Is it simply just a case of picking one by price and features or is there much difference between makes and models?

Both ASUS and ACER are well known brands but in all honesty, at that price point, what little advantage one may have other the other is usually too small to count. The only thing I might suggest is perhaps stretching to a 24" monitor if at all possible, but that only my personal preference.

Ok thank you. ive just realised I don't think this LG is adjustable. Which may put me off if I plan on keeping it for a long time. Do you think that would be a problem?

Try a VA panel instead of an IPS. I had a look at a bunch of monitors on demo recently and thought the benq VA panel looked nicer than all the ips panels. It was also cheaper. Stick to the better brands like Benq, Dell, asus, samsung, lg. Acer are a well known brand but i would rate them as one of the bottom choices for reliability and customer support. Samsung also have a PLS monitor which is quite good, better than TN panel but not quite as good as ips. Dont just get ipsjust for the sake of having an ips panel, many of the cheaper ips monitors are not very good.

Depends on your usage. For me, I only ever game on my PC, which means sitting right on front of the monitor. The LG only has tilt adjustment by the look of things so might be a bit of a pain depending on your seating position etc. as you really want the monitor the same height (or slightly lower) as your eye-line so you don't have to tilt it too much so as to be looking down on it.
