Hi all, I have previously built myself a very good PC, and am now helping my friends brother choose his parts. He is on a budget of around 1.5k-2k so we came up with the following build!

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/nWTFRB

If anyone could double check it for me, just make sure it works fine because my ass is on the line if it doesn't work :) And if theres any improvments too!

It is a good build, and it will work.

But you don't need a z170 board with that CPU, a cheaper H170 will give the same speed.
You don't need an aftermarket cooler, skylake CPU run cool
Power supply:- consider EVGA supernova.
250Gb SSD is only a few $ more

It is a build that will work and is fully compatible, however the price/performance ratio of the build is on the weaker side. You can get a better performing build at the same price point.

How much will the Corsair RMx power supply cost you on top of that? Also how much will the RAM cost?

If you go Z170 + custom cooler change that cpu to 6600k at least so you can play with overclocking later, otherwise indeed H170 or even B150 mobos are sufficient for non K CPU.
PSU is alright, no need to search for better if it's priced accordingly.
With 120 GB SSD he will have to be very wise what he will put on OS drive, since it might fill quickly if he start to install games on it, otherwise it's sufficient if you go for OS + software (no games) route.
I have some personal bad experience with Seagate drives, but as i can see you have hardly any alternative for that price.
Also depending of display he has, if its 1080p GTX 960 might be good enough but still I'd certainly look over GTX 970's for no compromises, but thats +150$ mark from the nearest decent EVGA model.
Other than that build looks good.

Few polishes here and there...

As said above EVGA has some quite good economical model, if that Corsair RM really cost the same as on partpicker (~150$) then certainly this one looks like a better deal.
Other then that you either go solid gaming build but with no OC or superior build with lot's of power to be unleashed.
