I just built a new pc now i m confused which gpu to buy
Gtx 770 4gb gtx 760 or the gigabyte r9 290
Due to the bad reputation of amd in terms of drivers should i go with or not?
Dont suggest me the 970 its out of my budget.

Solution

As the 780 does overclock quite well I believe. Then definitely go for that. I decided to go with red team when I bought my computer, and I really, really regret it. You should definitely go for the 780/green team. Don't make the mistake I did.
Whilst I prefer Nvidia I remember reading the 770 cant actually use more than just over 2gb VRAM due to limited memory bandwidth, the 4gb version was considered a bit of a gimmick. The 760 is weak for 1080p, id actually say the 290 is the best choice. AMD drivers are ok, just sometime you have to wait a while after a new game releases for them to release a good driver for it.

Is a 780 an option? It can be OC'd to stock 970 performance and can use all 3gb vram

I personally believe the r9 290 is better than the 770. But if you can afford the 780, then the 780 will be a lot more of a viable choice especially if it OC's well.

Yup i can get the 780 but it will be the same price as the r9 290
I want to get the amd but its the drivers which are holding me back i have seen people waiting for a stable update to be able to play games.
In the same price of the 780 i m getting a 4gb 512bit r9 290

Heat for one, the fact that it doesn't overclock well, and it doesn't overclock in the first place. If I apply OC settings it crashes, along with idling on like 60 degrees when staring at the GTA 5 skybox.

I have tried fallout 4, and the fans ramp up to 50 and it gets up to about 90°, when it gets to about 95° my driver crashes and I have to do a force restart.

Woah! Did you possible mistype 23k? as in 23, 000. Anyways as these are lower end cards, they will most likely last. But don't be expecting anything short of an 980 to be running AAA titles in the very near future.
