Hey guys,

I've been putting off this upgrade for a pretty long time now, since I'm still on socket 775 and I'm aware I need to change almost everything. I'm on a tight budget (250€ max for everything - hopefully with some slack so I can get an SSD later on).

I've been considering upgrading to an i3-4170 (120€) + Asrock H81M-VG4 (45€) + Point of View GTX 750 Trooper 2GB (non-TI) (69€).

I chose Intel instead of the cheaper AMDs since the price difference isn't that high (~20€ here in Portugal) and I intend to play a lot of Arma/Dayz which benefit a lot from the better single-core performance as far as I'm aware. I also chose 1150 instead of the newer 1151 since my DDR3 rams wouldn't work with the new i3 CPUs from what I've been reading.

Regarding the graphics card, though, I'm really not sure about this one. I hear a lot of good things about the 750s but I've never heard of Point of View and the price is pretty low compared with other versions of the 750. The 750ti from the same brand is priced at 100€, would the difference between both be substantial enough? I also hear a lot of good things about the similar-priced AMDs, but they don't seem to be available around here...

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions!

on your build spend a little more for the h97 if your ging to drop in an i5 latter on. the h97 will support the newer haswell and brodwell with just a bios update. with your new parts make sure you have a power supply with good wattage and a unit that not a cheap unit that going to fail on you. if you can pick up the newer mb and cpu and reuse the older gpu you have then pick up a 950/960 cards. nvidia is dropping soon a 960ti. when they do the older cards should drop in price. the 950 cards are almost 2x as fast as the older 750ti. there also low wattage gaming cards (170w) max. if you have to drop down to the g3258 it a great entry level gaming cpu.
