Hey there. My new rig just keeps shutting down whenever I play heavy duty games about 10mins. Anyone can help me? Btw this is my first custom rig. My specs are:

Mobo: Asus z97 maximus vii formula
Gpu: nvidia gf msi gtx 970 oc tiger
Cpu: intel i5 4690k
Psu: cooler master 550w 80plus

Solution
Try testing your memory. Go to the lonk below. Download the ISO and burn to disk. Then boot from the disk and run the tests. It will take some time, be patient.

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

Also, is your motherboard running the most current BIOS version?

Don't worry about the downvote. No a big deal. I unselected the Best Answer as we haven't figured one out yet.

This is usually caused by heat and/or power issues. It could also be faulty memory.

Are you overclocking anything (CPU, GPU, memory)? If so, revert back to stock speeds to attempt to stabilize the system and to isolate the problem.

What is your operating temperatures at idle (nothing running except for the OS and normal startup apps) and under load (like when gaming)? Need to know for both the CPU and GPU.

We'll tackle testing memory after looking at heat/power. BTW, what specific model is your PSU?

I havent overclock anything as this is my first rig and install bf3 to test on. Running real smooth on ultra setting. Cpu temp at idle is 39°c and around 50 at heavy duty. My gpu temps at idle 40°c and around 75°c at heavy duties. My psu is cooler master v550 550w gold power supply (rs-550-amaa-g1-au) 80+G/sm. Sorry about the rate button. I messed up because of poor internet connection. I did not mean to downrate.

Thank you. I will come back again as soon as I am finish with your suggestion. And yes. My Mobo is updated to latest version. I am suspecting the psu being not strong enough to run my rig. Anyway, I am going to do the test now.
