Internet disconnecting at heavy load, caused by router

I decided to get to the point to ask this.
Already since about a year ago we have been having a really annoying issue with the internet.
When the internet is at a high or too heavy load, it completely disconnects. Showing the yellow "!" icon on the taskbar in Windows. All devices are disconnected from the internet and to solve it, I have to reset my modem and router.
This is highly annoying issue!

Some examples:
Working: Watching HD videos, online gaming, downloading small/medium files, browsing on multiple devices
Problems: Using Steam, downloading digital programs or games (gameconsoles too), watching HD videos on multiple devices, using devices at the same time using a decent amount of load

Our setup:
Internet -> Modem -> Router (with WiFi) -> PCs and devices

The router we have is a: Sitecom Wireless Gigabit Router N300 X4 WLR-4000
A 2013 model if I'm correct. It costed about ~$175 at the time.

The internet type might be the issue too, the router might not be optimized for this, I have been thinking before. We have a new internet connection and contract for about 1.5 years now.
Internet: high speed fiber cable (300+ Mbps)
Router slows down internet speed and only gives 100-200 Mbps, not stable though.

We are sure the router is the issue, because the internet works perfectly fine without disconnecting if we use it directly from the modem, no speed loss either.

Lately we have installed a switch. That works perfectly without disconnecting, without using the router, but then we don't have a Wifi access point.
So we tried setting up the router as a Wifi point only, after the switch, but it didn't work unfortunately. If the router is before the new switch, it will still disconnect the internet, but the internet setup with router+switch works.

Finally, we have tried factory resetting the router, with no solution either.
The easiest way to fix this issue, is buying a new and good router, but currently I don't want to spend $200+ on a new router yet and the WiFi on this router is good (up to 50 Mbps) and the area coverage is far.

I hope anyone here could give us a solution. I've been trying to figure this out for months now, but no results.
It might be just a wrong router setting or anything else. What could it be?
What would be the solution?

weather its true or not I have read that with the wifi adaptors [???] that heat up under a lot of load and can cause this ?? mine can get kinda warm when heavy useage but only seems to disconnect when idle/no activity for a time .

wifi is no where near anything close to hardwire and seems to work as it feels like for anytime of the day
