Hello,

I have been playing a lot of newer games lately (Black Ops 3, Just Cause 3) and am finding that my current GTX 680 Reference with 2GB VRAM isn't quite keeping up like I want it to. I also recently bought a 144 Hz 1080p monitor and would like to get more out of it than I currently am.

My only concern is about whether to upgrade now or wait for Pascal. I would very much like to enjoy the newer games I am playing now as I don't often get a lot of time to play, but I also do not want to throw away too much money.

Would it be wise to upgrade to the GTX 980 ti now?

Also, as far as specific cards go, I am having trouble choosing. I am currently looking at the MSi 6G, which is cheaper, but also the MSi Lightning (slightly more). Does anyone have a recommendation for these brands/cards or another?

I need to make this decision very soon due to shipping costs in my current area.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Consumer cards will be out next year for both, I think amd said summer and nvidia probably same time but they may release earlier. Not sure which ones will come first, lower or upper end but they are coming. If you can just stick it out, it will be worth it to wait. I love my ti but I've had it since june, I wouldn't buy one now unless I had no card at all. OC it and stick it out, you'll thank your wallet.

Just overclock it. I have a HD 7870 and recently OC'd it. It does make a big difference. I also run my games at 1440p high-ultra settings and rarely dip below 35. Avg around 40-50 in most games. You have a 680, you should still be able to play everything max above 50fps at all times.

Well you could add a second gtx 680 in SLi and that would give you the performance you want for now. If you insist on sticking with a single card though and can afford a 980ti then just go for it or wait a few months for video cards to be made on a new lithography node.

My only concern about this is in regards to the actual release date of the cards and whether or not the card they put out then is for consumers or for just professionals.

Is there any indication that a gaming-centered card will be released in the first wave?
