Is my CPU Good Enough For CPU Intensive Games? Or do I need an upgrade.

I was just wondering with the new Skylake out, do I need a new CPU to handle CPU intensive games. Also, do I need to upgrade my current CPU any time soon?
Something on the side, how does the Skylake handle with CPU intensive games?

My Current Build:
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-LK
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB
Graphics Card: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660
Power Supply: Corsair GS600 600 watt

Hello MrHumbleification. Your CPU is fine, it has got 4 cores at 3.5 GHz. It has got turbo boost (boost up to 3.9 GHz) which is great and also hyper-threading which means your 4 physical cores have each 2 threads giving a final of 8 threads. It is more than suficient for gaming cpu-wise. Now what I'd replace in your build if you have the time and the money, would be the graphics card. As I really enjoy Nvidia, I'd got with a Nvidia 900 series, maybe a 950 or 970, if you can afford, the best would be 980 but it is really expensive!

all you need is a gpu upgrade

the 3770k is still a top notch cpu

the only thing you might need to do is overclock it a bit in the future

If you can afford it, wait. If not, buy the 900s series now.

I'd say get the card now as your already at the point you are suffering because of the outdated graphics card. Definitely get something like the 900 series that can handle DX12 and if you are planning on 4k gaming get something with more than 4 gigs of memory (though honestly I don't think 4k gaming is necessary in the least).
