I am looking for a new system build for around $650

Any thoughts on the following parts? Any recommendation for a cooler?

Also, should I consider Intel instead of AMD?

Thanks!

-Fred

  • AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory

Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Solution
You can build a much better gaming rig if you pass on the SSD for now as only a few games like BF4 will benefit from it and it can be added in later. I also passed on the wifi adaptor as this MB has one built in.

Intel delivers a better performance than AMD CPU-wise in my opinion. Your build is fine. I'd get a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 CPU cooler to keep those temperatures down since AMD CPUs tend to use more watts and therefore heat up more easily. I think with your budget is best to go for AMD. Intel requires always a little more investement.

Hyper 212 EVO for cooling. It is a very good cooler and is only $25. AMD is good for budget CPUs and intel is better for more expensive builds. There are no intel CPUs that will perform as well at that price.

For your GPU, others may disagree with me, but I think you should not get an SSD (get it later on) and use the money to instead get something like and R9 380 or GTX 960. These cards will perform better in the long term than the 750ti.
