Hi, I recently changed my stock cooler to an aftermarket one (cooler master 212 hyper) due to its good reviews for being budget. The CPU is idling at roughly 60'-70', and at 90+ when I tried to put a few processes on it. Obviously I switched it off immediately afterwards. I've checked the paste and cleaned and re-applied. Still no luck. I've made sure the pressure was enough to make good contact. Still running hot enough to fry eggs. Core voltage is okay to what I can tell. Oh and before with stock it was idling mid 40s and going no higher than 60 - but due to the noise it was making (fan was going at 6000rpm at points). Ambient temp is 15 (typical England)

Ideas?

Regards.

You ruined your cooler. Those heatpipes are pressurized and have liquid in them. That liquid turns to vapor when the heatsink gets hot. It is a paperweight now.

Oh and I forgot to mention - I did a small bit sawing to the top of the copper rods (there are holes now at the top - only needed about 8mm) as it would not fit in my case at first (should of checked first before buying!). Do you think maybe convection could be a problem in airflow and may just need re soldering over the top as it has left holes on the top due to the rods being hollow.
