Question: Is this ram going to be used with an AMD APU where the APU graphics are going to be utilized for gaming? (Same question applies if using an intel Chip)

If the answer is NO, then go with whatever is cheapest. You will be hard pressed to see a performance difference.

Ram does not get outdated in the sense that buying 2012 ram is worse than buying ram from 2014. CAS and Frequency are important. Both of your options will perform well.


The newest Intel CPU's use DDR4 making DDR3 outdated but the performance difference right now is not worth the cost of upgrading.
