How do I remap or disable a key in Windows 10?

I want to remap or disable the console / tilde key (the key right below the ESC). I've tried Sharp Keys but it doesn't work the first time I press it, and then works afterwards. But, that's an issue when playing BF4, as the console will come up and it's stuck on the console and I'm unable to move / play.

Is there a way to remap the tilde key in Windows 10 directly? I don't want to resort to removing the key on my mechanical keyboard. If all else fails, perhaps I'll use a physical block to encase the tilde key. Please note that there is no option to bind the console button to a different key in-game. It's an ongoing issue with the BF4 gaming community.

And, sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum - I couldn't find the forum for external hardware / input devices / keyboards. Moderators, please move it to the correct forum if this isn't it.

May end up with just using a physical block.

However, if you are up to registry hacks - here is a possibility:

What is really interesting that the end of the article presents both SharpKeys and KeyTweak.

However, the SharpKeys paragraph mentions "Right [sic] to Registry" where the meaning is "Write". Do you see or have the option to write to the registry?

Editing the registry is risky so there are automatic caveats about doing do. And, based on what has been done so far I am not sure that a direct registry edit would work.

However, you might consider at least looking in the registry to see what keyboard entries, if any, are there and what they are...

Just tried it now, it's behaving the same way as Sharp Keys for some reason. When I enter the game, the console button works the first time I press it, then it ceases to work. So, the game is stuck on the console screen. I tried using KeyTweak after restarting my PC.

Outside the game, however, it works beautifully.

Key Tweak has a "disable"option as I understood it.

So you would disable Key #1 if I am following your requirement(s) correctly.

Also if Key Tweak is open and minimized during the game is it possible to pause the game and go back to Key Tweak and reconfigure perhaps?

Yes, Key #1 was disabled, and the computer was restarted.

Key Tweak was left open while in-game. I'm not sure that Key Tweak can make any changes dynamically while in-game, as it requires a restart. I tried restoring the default without restarting, and Key #1 won't work.

Thanks, I'll look into doing a manual change. Maybe I'll look to see what actually changes in the registry after using Key Tweak. I think I'll also try rebinding the key in Key Tweak and seeing if that works (I can't simply rebind the tilde key in-game, since BF4 won't allow it for that button). Thanks again!
