Hey All,

Just about to start building my new system, I'm pumped. I got a new samsung 850 evo, and 3 TB barracuda mechanical drive.

I have my existing smaller PNY SSD, and western digital drive on my current computer, with my windows 10 OS (I had to buy OS after market, so have boot flash drive).

I am thinking that it maybe best to install both my pny ssd and evo, as well as western digital and barracuda, and use pny sdd as my initial drive to boot from, and then use acronis to move os and all my programs etc. to the samsung SSD while installed in new rig, and then switch to using Samsung ssd as primary boot drive and removing smaller pny ssd.

Thoughts / issues that may screw with my bios / configuration? New system is going to have asus z97-a mobo, and i7-4790k processor, 16 gb ram

Thanks!

Solution
With a new system, I highly recommend a whole new OS install.
After that, reinstall your applications and move your personal data to where it needs to be.

Existing SSD in current system is PNY 125 GB
Mechanical drive in current system is Western Digital Black, 1 TB

New SSD is 250gb Samsung EVO
New mechanical drive is 3 TB Barracuda

On a side note, I am thinking about keeping current wd 1 tb as my primary mechanical drive, and barracuda for large file storage. I like western digital, is black edition, and works well

Thanks, any suggestion on moving my programs / data to new drives? Is it easier to install those drives on the computer and transfer, I do have a 1 tb external drive as well. Use acronis to do full image back up of current HD's and then restore system to new one?

"Restore backed up data including your operating system, application and all your data to your existing computer or an entirely separate piece of hardware, or restore specific data as needed."

Or reinstall all my programs, settings, move data files manually?
