I am engineer student ofcourse computer science. As it happens on final year we are supposed to develop a project and submit it. For that i need a laptop to carry it around. But instead i am thinking of buying a tablet and a foldable keyboard. Projects will be coded on pc but i will need to run it on tablet to show it to faculty/display. screen may be mirrored to projector.
few points need to see before suggestions
1: Project is not high end even a c2d can run it.
2: about 10 inch screen
3: May be I need to run it on tablet.
4: If it so happens that i do not need to run my project on tablet. Main work would be ppt/word.
apart from that i want to use it as ebook reader. and some gaming if possible.

i want some good suggestions on it. how feasiable is this solution and if this can work which tablet i should buy.
and i will need to run these applications at least.
java
c/c++
any database
some http/ftp server application.
etc.
thanku

Solution
The best one that I can think of is the surface pro models for this purpose. You could try something cheaper like the acer Iconia tablets as they are cheap windows tablets that should be able to mirror the screen of your desktop.

The only tablet that would fit those criteria would be a Microsoft Surface Pro, preferably the latest model (4) with an i7 processor and 8GB of memory; they are quite expensive. You should also consider compact notebooks, which will be considerably cheaper but possibly not quite so powerful. This wouldn't replace your phone in any way.

I would not recommend a table due to the cpu and the screen real estate. It will become really annoying when you have to keep scrolling up and down when you have lots of code.

Also table cpus are not as strong as laptops due to the size and cooling requirements.

i am not looking for high end or completely replace my laptop. Just enough to show my work may be some code editing if necessary. and some normal stuff like rading web browsing and videos.

i am thinking of getting a desktop at home. i mean new one. Old is C2D.

What do you mean show you work? Most tables that I know will struggle to run the ide for the software you are developing. The only tablet that I know that is actually cable of running ides is the toshiba one with the full i7 m cpu which is designed for graphic artists.

The other is the surface pro but that is more of a mini laptop without a keyboard assuming you don't buy the optional covers for them.

You seem to have changed your mind. You are now specifying different applications than in your OP. This is too confusing for me.

I suggest that you go to a computer store, try a few machines, and see which suits you.

just updated question details. i am not developing a very high end and cpu/gpu intensive application. I don't think i would need a i7 prrocessor tablet.
