Hi, guys! It seems that my SSD readings reset and I do not know why. I have a new V300 Kingston 240GB, it's put in my primary HDD bay, and in my secondary HDD bay has a 5400 rpm WD Blue 1TB. I use a laptop, Acer V3-772G-5413, Windows 8.1 with up-to-date updates.
I've used Kingston Toolbox, CrystalDiskInfo, SSDLifePro, same readings. Almost on a daily basis, the values reset by themselves (I've tried to test it with restart/shutdown, but I couldn't find any correlation). So, Lifetime Writes,Reads, Device Power On, Device Power Cycle Count, everything goes to 0 every 1-2 days, could you please help me out?

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, humamihai!

I'd strongly recommend you to use the SSD's brand-specific tool to check if your firmware is up to date: http://www.storagereview.com/how_upgrade_ssd_firmware
Since the solid-state drive is relatively new, you should consider contacting the manufacturer's customer support for assistance with this. If the SSD is faulty, you should be able to RMA it and get a replacement from them.

Hope this helps you. Keep me posted! :)

Hi! I've already tried the Kingston Toolbox, it's their official tool, it says my firmware is up-to-date. I've contacted them and now I have to give them a whole lot of information about the SSD and laptop. The SSD works flawlessly, but if the SMART data resets by itself so often I cannot see the drive's health as I should.

I will keep you posted with my solution! Thank you! :)

Hi, guys! So it went without a glitch for 6 days, and now the SMART data went back to 0 again... I've tried all kinds of diagnostics and settings (SSD tweaker, disabling LPM, installed drivers Rapid Storage/Chipset, Kingston Toolbox diagnostics, trying to find a correlation with CCleaner and/or other cleaning programs/drivers, full scan with MalwareBytes, force shutting my laptop/removing the cable while it's working, multiple restarts, power settings, double checked if SSD is on AHCI mode in BIOS, double checked if TRIM is enabled, optimized SSD with Windows 8.1 defragmenter), nothing... So I'll disassemble my laptop, collect all the needed info from the SSD and contact Kingston again and tell them that their drive is stupid.

PS: Very disappointed with the speeds of Kingston V300 240gb. And seq. read values vary for some reason from 210 mb to 535 mb, depending on I do not know what factor... At the beginning, the read speeds were higher, now after 2 weeks although the drive is 75% empty, the speed is 25% lower and yes , I am using SATA III and all the needed up-to-date drivers.

If anybody has any ideas on what to try to fix the SMART data reset I am more than happy to try them!

You really don't need and specific tool for that. I always use the Hard Disk Sentinel (i'm on 4.5 pro) and its great. After the OS and drivers, is the first thing i install. I had this issues on my 1st Kingston (SSD HyperX 240GB Cloud9 edition)... sent back to seller due that issue, and after made a lot of tests... rebooting, put on standby, hibernation, etc. Seems a bad code that try to rec new data on S.M.A.R.T and lost. I don't know deeply, sorry for that! I just know that you don't lose data in this process/failure.
I'm on my 3rd Kingston HyperX 240GB because of that behavior. What bothers me is the fact almost nobody notice that things (like SMART, that i ALWAYS check). My solution was send back to Kingston to take a new one. The last its fine!!! 400GB written on "lifetime" and the smart is OK now!!! Hope you solve yours!
