It really depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend? Bare in mind though that your processor will really struggle to feed any of the current gen. GPU's with enough data and you'll end up CPU bound. In all honesty you may want to consider looking at a wider upgrade of your system.

A 750ti would be a good fit as it doesn't require much beyond what's supplied by the pci-e slot. Honestly even that may be a little overpowered for that old system without overclocking your CPU. You could step down to a GT 730 with the 64-bit GDDR5 memory. The 128bit version is slower since it typically uses crappy memory. The Radeon R240 and R250 are also options but the 250x uses too much power for your system or I'd recommend that.

Nvidia recommends a 300W or better PSU for the GTX 750 Ti, although I'm running one on a 240W Dell PSU. So, use the GTX 750 Ti at your own risk. However...
If this is your DC5700, http://www.ctsestore.com/sites/default/files/styles/pic_wm/public/HP_COMPAQ_DC5700_Tower_5.jpg you are limited to a single slot card due to the position of the PCIe x16 slot.

I'm going to post this for information only. As far as I know it doesn't apply to this computer. In the PCIe specification there is a little known provision for a PCIe 16x slot with 25W capacity for "servers". I have encountered this in HP SFF desktops. They actually Spec. fast Core2Quads, 32GB memory, and boast 3x GPU support. 2 of them will be PCIe1x, and the other 25W PCIe16x. Just to save a couple bucks on the PSU.
