my laptop shows blackscreen when turned on.It boots properly and Usinf HDMI cable i can see it on my TV screen. What do i do.

Ive taken out battery and replaced it. Tried F8 at start up and all other things but it never shows anything on d laptop screen .Just blank black with the LCD on. The HDMI works fine as display shows on TV.
Pls help

Try using a torch on the screen without the external monitor plugged in. if you can see an image it's only the backlight on screen. something needs a replacement. figuring what is the next step
