How do I choose the right components for an upgrade?

I am considering upgrading my desktop for the first time. I am making the switch from PS4 to PC, so I want to be sure that the experience is better or at least the same.

My current PC specs:
- 8GB RAM
- 112.5MB Integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics
- 300w PSU
- Intel Core i3-4170

I know for sure that I need to upgrade graphics card and PSU but I'm unsure on which graphics card to get and how many watts I would need to match. Would I also need to upgrade the processor?

All help is appreciated.

Well it will limit it slightly. Also if you just put a gtx 750Ti (without upgrading anything) then you will have an extremely close performance to the PS4.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to bombard you guys with so many questions. I am just needing to make sure I know what I am doing before I spend the money.

Let's say I was going to buy a GTX 960 2GB card and also upgrade the PSU. Still using my same ram and processor. Would the processor limit the new graphics? Would it compare to PS4?
