Hi,

I'm trying to stream shows off my laptop but I think the wireless card is failing since it isn't getting great speeds, my Internet package is at 100d/10u but I'm getting nowhere near that on my laptop.

My desktop is using Ethernet cable for Internet, is there anyway to give my laptop Ethernet Internet through the desktop? Or hardware that will allow me to do so?

If possible, should it theoretically give good speeds?

Thanks

Why buy hardware to kludge together a connection from the desktop to the laptop when you can just as easily get a second cable and just run it alongside the one you have for the desktop? To get an ethernet connection to share from the desktop you'd have to buy a second ethernet adapter for the desktop, set that up for internet connection sharing and connect that adapter to the laptop. Getting a second longer network cable is a lot easier and simpler.
If the laptop is used in the same area as the desktop, just connect a network cable to it the same way.

If you can't run an ethernet cable to the laptop, you can use a powerline adapter to get the system hard wired and get more stable speeds.

Keep in mind that the speed over a WiFi connection depends on how far away from the router you are and interference in the area, as well as the quality of the laptop and router wireless hardware.

I could use another Ethernet cable but the router is relatively far from my room and don't have another 40ft cable at the moment.

Just wondering if there's another possible solution or if I have to get another cable?
