I tried to install an Intel Pentium 4 '86 3.00GHz 631 Malay SL9KG processor into my Mum's ms-7525 ver 1.0 Boston motherboard, it fit (or so I thought) well, plugged everything back in and not much happened, power light on, all fans working but no video input and no hdd light!!! Is it the processor socket? I got the p4 on ebay, used, maybe not working aka a dud? Mum's pc is a Compaq Presario SR5620AN, original cpu is a celeron e1200, windows 10 32 bit, 4gb ram, recently installed a nVidia GeForce GT 610 GPU, has had screen freezes and blue/black screens latest gpu drivers installed. Can't update BIOS, HP oem or something, lol!!! Am I wasting my time with the p4 and this mobo or am I better off buying a cheap mobo on ebay that the p4 will fit? Any and all help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Oddly enough, according to the official documentation, the CPU you are trying to use is too OLD.
From the documentation, the board supports the following: Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale-M), Core 2 Duo E4x00 (Conroe), Pentium E2xxx series (Conroe), Celeron Dual Core E1xx0 series (Conroe) Celeron 4xx series (Conroe).
It "should" support olders CPUs as well so perhaps the one you are trying to install is faulty. Having said that, it is an old chip in comparison to the Celeron you had originally.

Oh, okay, I just thought any Pentium would be much better performance wise than any Celeron??? I was hoping it was simply a BIOS problem? Maybe 'simply' is not the right word, lol, if I can't update it, that is! The celeron cpu has '003' printed on the underside, where it sits in the socket, the P4 has '100' printed in the same place, does that mean anything???

Okay, thank you Petrossa! I will do a bit more research, aka Google it, to find a used and hopefully working chip for my mum's mobo! I will let you know as soon as I can! Bye for now!!! :)
