Hey all,

We just bought a couple of used HP z800's off of ebay and I need advice on which to keep. The PC's will be used for editing. We mainly use Adobe CC (premiere and after effects), we record on a BBCC which records in 4k, I have a 4k monitor as well but all final videos are exported at 1080p.

I have a custom built i7 with the following specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz (Haswell-E/EP)
Mother Board: X99-DELUXE (Asus)
Ram: 16 gb DDR4-2133 (1066 MHz)

Number of processors 1
Number of threads 12

and the used x800's
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5670 @ 2.93GHz (Westmere-EP)
Mother Board: hp z800
Ram: 48 gb DDR3 PC3-10700 (667 MHz)

Number of processors 2
Number of threads 6 each, 12 total

The z800's came with a Quadro 5000 but I also bought a gtx 980ti to use.
Both have bootable SSD drives. The z800's do not have USB3 while the i7 does.

Please let me know which you think would have the best performance.

Thank you all in advance!

Solution
The Z800 will have twice as many physical cores (and twice as many threads since the X5670 are hyperthread enabled) and 3X the RAM. That seems like a no brainer.
