[Help]GPU Suggestion needed

Hey guys,

My Rig

GPU: R9 270 Dual-X
CPU: Intel G3258
RAM: 8GB Corsair
HDD: 1TB (512+512)
PSU: Corsair 450 VX

Everything was working fine before two days,

I booted up my PC and launched FIFA 14, the game crashed and i relaunched it, i was shown a screen full of green UGLY lines

When i rebooted i saw strange artifacts on my desktop :S

i googled googled and googled ... which unfortunately didn't give me any useful info

Then i decided to clean install win-10 which yielded no useful results as well,

i tried to install AMD drivers, the screen went dark and the GPU fan started buzzing out loud...

i accidentally[kinda

] stopped the fan and the GPU kinda overheated... so switched off my RIG and restarted it the next morning voila everything was back to normal...

i gamed for the next 6 hours straight:

Witcher 3
Dying Light
GTA 5
Creed Syndicate

Luckily i came across an video about GPU Baking in youtube....

then the next day i turned my RIG on started witcher 3 BAM the ugly green lines were back and so are the artifacts....

Reheated the GPU everything is fine again...

Could this be because of a loose solder?

Can i have your help on this?????

I'm assuming you have new amd Crimson drivers. Those lock in the fan speeds. You need their beta drivers cuz they fix the problem. Hopefully ur gpus aren't fried. Go to amd website and get the latest beta drivers. Should be 15.11.1 I believe

I doubt it is loose solder. Solder has a melting point of 370f and there is no way your GPU got that hot before shutting itself off.

It sounds more like your GPU probably has bad VRAM, a much more common result from the issues you are describing.

u've nailed it but later i've installed the older one 15.7.1 ....

And,

I regularly monitored the TEMPS with MSI it was well below 65 ... confusing....

Well the GPU revives when overheats .... can this definitely mean VRAM failure?.... gosh i sound sooo dumb....

What driver are you running? Clean install is required ( Uninstall then install) I have 15.11.1 which works fine. You might have blown ur gpu. It's a common problem with amd new crimson driver. Just Google it. Lol

i was on crimson 15.11[both the times] when i faced this issue.... i reverted back to 15.7.1 by clean unistall and fresh install of drivers with driver-uninstaller...

... god help me !

SO After a week of extensive gaming ............

THE GPU works! for 80% of the time....

am getting random crashes though,

Soooooooo kinda planning to get another GPU,

i've my eyes on the

HIS R9 270x 2GB[168$]

HIS R9 280X 3GB[180$]

both are available at a difference of 10$,

should i get the 270x or the 280x? will my PSU Holdup if i get the 280x?

bcoz[My Assumption] its a 80+ Bronze Corsair VX450

360W of output the R9 280x will have a TDP of 200W and the g3258 55W+ will my PSU holdup?

I would probably go for a 270X. The 280X uses a bit more power and you don;t want to stress your PSU too much.
