Hey guys I'm new but have always used Tom's Hardware as a research site when I'm comparing stuff.

I have a 32-bit OS so I can only use 3GB of my 4GB, I know I should upgrade but I only have cash for the GPU. As my title describes my question will it bottleneck my GPU?

Solution
If you have a CD key that can be found on most PCs on the side sticker, to windows 7, 8. You can download that OS free from Microsoft website(64 bit). Then use the CD key to activate it. Then you can upgrade to windows 10 (64 bit) for free if you want.
Having a 32 bit or 64 bit might matter but idk for sure/

Yes it definitely will. Usually CPUs do the most bottlenecking but only have 3GB RAM means you wouldn't be able to play most games even if you had a Nvidia Titan and a 6GHz 8-core CPU. Like the person above said, try and upgrade your OS. If you can't get anything 64-bit you'll need a new motherboard maybe even a new CPU. With your PC, if you want to game a GPU should be your last concern.

Okay thank you very much I will look to upgrade my OS definitely.
Only problem is it was my dad's pc and he bought it from a guy pre built... so I don't know if I have the key. Is there a way to recover the key?

Specs: i5 2500(old I know)
Psu: Mecury 450w
RAM:4GB DDR3 1333 or 1600 not sure
OS: Win 7 32bit
Motherboard: Intel DH67BL

I am looking to get the following;
Asus h61M K motherboard
EVGA GTX 750ti SC
Win 10 or 7 64bit.

My budget for upgrading is R4800 or I think $320.
The reason for the low end upgrade is I won't be able to get enough for a decent new cpu mobo ect.
And I'm looking to replace the pc after a few years because it is rather old.
It is a Micro-ATX case (also mecury).
Appreciate it.
